Milestones in Implementing the 1+2+1 Program at George Mason University

October 2004

George Mason University President Alan Merten visits China and signs 1+2+1 agreements with seven Chinese partner universities.

 

March 2005

Mason receives its first applications from Chinese college freshmen at 1+2+1 partner schools and selects 16 students who formed the first cohort of 1+2+1 students at Mason.

 

August 2005

The first 16 1+2+1 students arrive at George Mason University.

 

March 2006

1+2+1 students go on Spring Break trip to New York city, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.

Mason receives second group of 1+2+1 applications and selects 30 students to form the second cohort.

 

August 2006

30 new 1+2+1 students arrive at Mason to form the second cohort.

 

June - August 2007

The first cohort of Mason 1+2+1 students returns to China to complete their final year of undergraduate studies.

 

August 2007

The third cohort of 1+2+1 students arrives at George Mason.

 

June 2008

The first cohort of George Mason University students will graduate from the 1+2+1 program at Yunnan University with degrees from both Mason and their universities in China.

 

August 2008

The fourth cohort of 1+2+1 students arrives at George Mason University.
